Jacky Lee is a full-stack web developer with 8 years of hands-on experience building digital solutions for SMEs across Malaysia. After years of building expensive custom websites for large corporations, he noticed a glaring gap in the market - local micro-SMEs from neighborhood kopitiams and home-based bakers to independent retail shops were being left behind in the digital economy.

Traditional web design agencies in Malaysia charge thousands of ringgit upfront, putting professional websites out of reach for the very businesses that need them most. Driven by a desire to help everyday Malaysians transition online, Jacky launched CWD Malaysia in 2019 with a radical idea: charge just RM1 for the initial website setup and design when bundled with affordable local hosting.

What started as a grassroots project quickly gained traction. As the pandemic accelerated the need for businesses to have an online presence, word spread rapidly through local merchant WhatsApp groups and Facebook SME communities along the Federal Highway corridor and across the Klang Valley. Business owners appreciated the transparency and the fact that they did not have to take out a loan just to get a professional landing page.

Today, CWD Malaysia serves clients from the Klang Valley all the way to Sabah and Sarawak. Alongside UI/UX designer Chloe Tan, who specializes in mobile-first ecommerce templates, the team continues to champion the digital transformation of Malaysian micro-businesses - one ringgit at a time.
